my secret ambition #2

I want a cool nickname -- cool like The Edge cool. Why should rock stars and professional athletes get all the good nicknames? Why not preachers?

For those who pay attention to such things, Im preaching Friday at our midday mass commemorating Leo the Great. (On the topic of Leo being the Great, Dylan has an entry wishing that she had a jazzy nickname such as The Edge,... [Read More]

You are a very greedy person. You already have two surnames, one of which is "Dylan" (how cool is that) and now you want a nickname as well. You should count yourself lucky, young lady, there are children in Africa whose parents can only afford to give them one name!

If you want a nickname, how about: "Little Miss I Want?"

"Little Miss I Want" ... slightly cumbersome, but it sure fits!

I suggest you turn to the mafia for inspiration. The Church would be more fun if leading figures had names like Cheesebox, Bananas, Chicken Head, Georgie Neck and Big Lollipop.

You and I exchanged instant messages, didn’t we, on this subject? I don’t remember what we came up with, but it involved your being dangerous. . . .

Of course, in olden times people got nicknames like “Golden-Mouth,” “The Great,” “The Theologian,” or “the Dumb Ox.” “Dylan the Great” would be a bit of a stretch (at this point in your life); maybe “Dylan the Gloria-ous”?
